Teshen Katori Shinto-Ryu (Update)

I keep training with my sword.  Unfortunately, I was sick for a while and my dad got really busy so I was not able to go as much as we wanted.

But I continue to get better and am now working hard on Kata 1.  The Kata is a series of movements mimicking a sword fight that begins to tie all the different strokes and blocks together.

I finally got my proper Gi and Hakama.  The Gi (top) was ordered from Japan and I had the Hakama (bottom) was made for me by a tailor here in Hanoi.

As I get ready to start training today I am working with one of the senior students.  Before we start we bow to each other.

When we bow we still look each other in the eye as we bow.  We may have agree to train with each other but he is still an enemy and may attack at any moment so I must always keep my eyes on him.

I have started my attack and now my partner is coming back at me.  In this posture I simply slide backwards and bring my sword down, which will block his attack.

In this posture I am in Jodan no Kamae, and will swing down to knock his sword away.  Once I do that I will come up from below and slice up his belly and arm.  If it works correctly I may be able to cut his throat.

Well, clearly that did not work.  Now I will step left and get out of the way of his sword, then as I step out of the way I'll bring my sword up and move in with a (makuchi), there I will slice down his head and as I come down onto my knee I will slice all the say down his body and leg.  He will be done when I finish this one.

At first I was worried about them swinging swords at me but now that I am learning I can become just as good as them.  I am no longer worried.
